Dr. Jörg Schüttrumpf has been appointed Chief Executive Officer at Biotest in May 2025. Within the larger group he is acting as the Chief Scientific Innovation Officer of Grifols, where since late 2023 he has strengthened the company’s work to enhance patient care with innovative plasma medicines and other biopharmaceuticals. He will continue to fulfil certain oversight function for the R&D leadership team within the Grifols group.
Dr. Schüttrumpf has been with Biotest in different roles since 2012. Latest as Chief Scientific Officer and a member of its Board of Management from 2022 to 2024. Before joining Biotest AG in 2012, Dr. Schüttrumpf worked at different academic and non-government organizations in Germany and the U.S. This includes the German Red Cross Blood Donor Service, the Goethe University Frankfurt, the University Hospital of Essen, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Schüttrumpf is a trained physician-scientist specialized in Transfusion Medicine and Hemostaseology with degrees from Goethe University Frankfurt and Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg. He has an MBA from IMD Business School, Lausanne.
