Biotest develops and manufactures its medicinal products exclusively in Germany. The majority of our more than 2,800 employees worldwide work at our headquarters in Dreieich, near Frankfurt am Main. Our products meet high standards of quality and safety and are manufactured using innovative technologies.
Biotest Next Level: Efficient Production with Modern Infrastructure
The Biotest Next Level (BNL) production facility supports our commitment to providing high-quality therapies while using resources responsibly.
With BNL, Biotest has established one of the most advanced plasma protein production facilities. From the very beginning of its planning and construction, special emphasis was placed on efficiency, state-of-the-art technologies, and resource-efficient manufacturing processes.
The facility substantially exceeds the requirements of the German Energy Saving Ordinance (EnEV 2014) applicable during the construction phase. With a primary energy demand 29.6% below the EnEV 2014 benchmark, BNL is approximately twice as energy-efficient as an older building refurbished in the same year.[1]
- Modern production processes enable us to obtain more products from each liter of plasma than before. As a result, a greater number of patients can be provided with urgently needed therapies.
Improving Energy and Resource Efficiency Throughout the Entire Value Chain
Biotest pursues a climate strategy focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and continuously improving energy and resource efficiency. Key measures include: [2]
- Expansion of renewable energy sources
- Measures to improve energy efficiency: Despite increasing production volumes, Biotest has continued to enhance its energy efficiency. In 2025, energy consumption per liter of processed plasma was reduced compared with the previous year.
- Targeted process optimizations throughout the value chain: In 2025, 95.6% of industrial waste was reused or recycled, supporting a more circular and resource-efficient approach to operations.
